Immigration

In the face of new forms of immigrant-targeting, the Immigration Working Group supports attorneys who are not trained in immigration law to help protect our immigrant neighbors. Volunteer attorneys can help protect immigrants by:

• Presenting at “Immigration Know Your Rights” trainings tailored to specific audiences;

• Assisting families prepare to protect their children if parents are detained or deported at “Family Preparedness” clinics;

• Preparing habeas corpus petitions to be able to rapidly respond to detention or removal of visa or green card holders.

The Immigration Working Group has already held two trainings for attorneys interested in providing “Know Your Rights” and helping at Family Preparedness clinics.
